Sinopsis/Synopsis
Cada año, durante el mes de enero, aproximadamente tres millones de peregrinos visitan a la Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos, uno de los sitios religiosos más importantes de México. Guiados sólo por su fe, amor y devoción, y enfrentando tremendos obstáculos físicos y emocionales, cada peregrino revela sus motivaciones e interpretaciones de lo que significa para ellos la hermandad, la fe y Dios en el siglo XXI. Lo que sucede en el transcurso de nueve días es una comunión mágica; parte peregrinación, parte carnaval, parte fiesta, que sólo puede ocurrir en un país tan socialmente diverso, complejo, contradictorio y tolerante como México.
Each year during the month of January, approximately three million pilgrims visit the Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos, one of the most important religious sites in Mexico. Guided only by their faith, love and devotion, and facing tremendous physical and emotional adversity, each pilgrim reveals their personal motivations and interpretations of what brotherhood, faith and God mean to them in the 21st century. What transpires over the course of nine days is a magical fellowship; one part pilgrimage, one part carnival, one part fiesta, that can only occur in a country as socially diverse, complex, contradictory and tolerant as Mexico.
