Sinopsis/Synopsis
Catinga was shot in the north of Mexico, during a trip where I wanted to return to several places I´d visited years back, places that marked my relationship with the landscape and it´s inhabitants. It is a journey that becomes silent, it´s a time where words are held back in order to observe the distance and closeness of things, people and daily movements. Time takes on a double movement, that of the memory, and that of the things that time affects. I used repetition as a way to literally portray emotional closeness, a manner in which my own body relates to these places. The horizon is a constant landmark. The movement of a hand-held camera is a way to give voice to that which cannot be named, which only exists as the transpiration of time. Catinga is, also, the transpiration of the bodies, the smell that results from the consumption of energy.
