Sinopsis/Synopsis
Elvira Arellano was working without papers at the Chicago International Airport, where she cleaned airplanes in transit. After 9/11 the US government carried out a series of raids on all the airports looking for terrorists. Elvira and other immigrants were arrested, suspected of representing a threat to national security. She was considered a criminal and, therefore, they wanted to deport her and separate her from her US born son. After her arrest, Elvira began a social struggle to gain respect and recognition for the labor of undocumented immigrants. Four years of struggle and trials went by. With no other alternative, Elvira entered a Methodist church in Chicago seeking refuge to avoid her deportation, the only way she could stay with her son. A year later she left the church and traveled to Los Angeles to attend a rally. Elvira´s reputation had become international. In less than 24 hours, she was arrested and deported to Mexico, where she is carrying on with her cause as ambassador for immigrants.
